Teachers' loans from PLIs will no longer be deducted from their salaries - DepEd Teacher's Hub

Teachers’ loans from PLIs will no longer be deducted from their salaries

Teachers’ loans from PLIs will no longer be deducted from their salaries. The Department of Education released an order that Teachers’ loans from Private Lending Institutions (PLIs) will no longer be deducted from their salaries.

The new policy is in accordance with the General Appropriations Act of 2019 which states that teachers’ net take home pay should not be less than P5,000. Moreover, the retirement plan for teachers would also be ensured as the government will prioritize on paying the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

This means that public school teachers need to pay their salary loans over-the counter since their loans from these PLIs) will not be deducted from their payslips.

Outstanding pa rin ang mga loans pero kailangan po natin itong bayaran over the counter. Ibig sabihin, kanya-kanya na po kayo na magbayad,” ani DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla.

DepEd plans to implement the new policy in the coming August to allow them to adjust not only their staff and teachers, but also their system.
